What citation formats does CiteSimple offer?

CiteSimple offers MLA and Chicago/Turabian style formatting. Of note is the fact that CiteSimple now offers MLA 7 formatting, the most up to date standard for this style. APA style formatting is a feature that will be coming soon.

How do I cite sources in CiteSimple?

Citing many sources in CiteSimple is extremely easy. Just select the source you wish to cite from the pull down panel of options, select the appropriate retrieval method, fill in whatever fields of information you know about your source, and then click 'Cite.' If you want to add another source, you need not worry about losing the source you just cited. CiteSimple stores all your cited sources at the bottom of the page, allowing the user to modify, delete, and add more sources as they see fit.

What if I want to cite a source that CiteSimple does not currently have available?

To the best of our knowledge the sources we have available should handle nearly everything. In fact, our formatting comes directly from the official styling guides of these respective styles. Nonetheless, the general rule of thumb is that if a source is different than we have provided you should cite its pertinent information as of the type from the source where it came from.

How can I transfer my citations in CiteSimple to a word processing application such as Microsoft Word?

CiteSimple allows for the easy transfer of the information generated on our site. At the bottom of our page beneath the list of the sources that have been cited we provide the options to 'View & Print,' 'Send to E-mail,' and 'Save as Word Document'.

How does the service offerings work for CiteSimple?

CiteSimple has three service offerings. Free of charge we offer unlimited MLA 7 citations. Under our pay services, our Pro plan allows users to generate unlimited APA citations. Lastly, our Premium plan allows users to generate unlimited Chicago/Turabian citations. All of our pay services are available through automatically recurring monthly or annual subscriptions.

Do I, the user, have any flexibility in arranging my citations?

For the most part, citation formatting is very standardized. Therefore, our services will handle the 'correct' formatting given what a user provides. In the case of contributors to a work, however, the order in which one inputs them influences the citation output. Specifically, the order these contributors are input allows the user to dictate each contributor's relative importance to the work, and the resulting citation will reflect this specification by putting the most important contributor(s) name nearer to the beginning of the citation.

Do all my sources have to be lumped together, or can I separate groups of sources?

No, not all sources have to be assembled together. CiteSimple offers users the options to create 'Lists' which may be tailored to include whichever sources they want.
